about

The organ was one of the first instruments I ever learned. I was about three or four when I learned to play it (someone else had to push the pedals for me of course, until my legs got long enough). It's always been a dream of mine to compose a song with organ in it.
The beginning and the end of this song are written to be like a church style song, to mimic a funeral or being at a church service. There’s a lot of subtle dissonance in this song.
Also this song throughout, goes in and out of the 5/4 time signature which I thought was a cool way to make it sound a little “off” beat since this song represents actual death.
