about

The World Is Yours is the first ever original lyrical song I’ve produced with my band Maestro Eternal including vocals sung by me as well. It also features special guest drummer Bear Knox who I was lucky to have had the opportunity to work with on this song! I'm so grateful he lent me his amazing musical talent because it wouldn't have had the same energy or vibe without it! If you're not following Bear or haven't checked out his music, you need to check him out here on Bandcamp - or any other streaming platforms!

The World Is Yours has an important and personal meaning to me. I started working on it in late 2023 when I was struggling very badly, mainly with depression and other similar mental health stuff. And out of the hopelessness of those moments came this hopeful song about not giving up, about opportunity and seizing the moments that have been given to you. It’s about holding onto hope in the midst of adversity and struggle, and I really needed this message more than anything at this time and still do.

For those that really struggle with anything like this, you know, it really strips everything from you. All the things you used to enjoy and love are dull, gray meaningless nothingness to you. And it’s hard to see clearly and past those things. But despite all of that, I still held onto hope that I would find my way out of it. I’ve been on a deep journey of healing with lots of different methods. And I’ve been slowly climbing that ladder of feeling normal again. And I think the message of this song isn't exclusive to mental health or depression. It's just my own reason for writing it.

I got the idea for the song when I was going through one of my old journals from when I was a teenager. I was so hopeful for the future and confident - to a fault sometimes - that I would succeed at anything I put my mind to. I felt like nothing could stand in my way. And I image that these song lyrics are like my hopeful, confident, higher self talking to my self that’s struggling with all the things that have pulled me down. These lyrics and more are all the things I may say to a beloved friend. To try and be encouraging and up-lifting. But sadly, I’ve never really thought to say them to myself. Until now. The song itself is inspired by 80’s synthy ballads like The Land of Make Believe by Bucks Fizz, The Show Must Go On by Queen, The Neverending Story by Morodor + Doldinger and similar cheesy 80’s classics. Haha.

Now I have a song to listen to that will remind me to keep going, to keep my head up, to wake up to my surroundings and the world around me. And that if I just believe in myself, I can conquer anything. It’s the reminder I need very much. I hope maybe it can be that for someone else out there too. A song to tell you that you’re not alone. The world is yours if you just hold onto a tiny bit of hope that you’ll see the light again. It’s ok to go through dark times. But there really is happiness out there waiting for you.

lyrics

Look ahead
The future calls
Tell yourself you
Can have it all

The power
Is in your heart
There's no time like now
To start

Wake up, Wake up, Wake up
The world is yours
Wake up, Wake up
You are the cure

The world may burn
But you will learn
Your dreams
will return

Turn your back on
that pain you know
Stop the cycle,
Mend your soul

It’s beyond all
The things you see
So just believe

Wake up, Wake up, Wake up
The world is yours
Wake up, Wake up, wake up
You are the cure

The world may burn
But you will learn
Your dreams
will return

Change is just
around the bend
So get up, my Friend
The truth is better than
Your pretend
Be brave
and you’ll transcend

Wake up, Wake up, Wake up
The world is yours
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up
You are the cure

The world may burn
But you will learn
Your dreams
will return

The world may burn
But you will learn
Your dreams
will return

Your dreams
will return...
