about

The initials of the song title stand for Do Not Resuscitate. This song represents killing your former self, letting it die and never looking back. Also, it’s about when something dies, you can never see things in the same way again. You have to move in a different direction whether you like it or not.
At the very end of the song, it comes to a long drawn-out "Tape-Stop", fading away into the distance, into a memory. When you listen to the song again, rewind it, “go back” (especially to right before it fades), your ears anticipate the “death” of the song.
You can never hear the song again the same way. You instinctually anticipate it. It’s the same concept behind that old saying “you can never go back home again.” Of course, you can physically go back. But it’s never truly the same again. You can’t bring it back.
