about

This track is another I created a tiny short story from my childhood that inspired this track. This is the memory that Blue is created around. I hope you enjoy!

The soft beige couch that had always smelt old and musty enveloped her tiny body into its large fluffy cushions. She couldn’t sleep. It was a few days before Christmas and the Aspen mansion was filled with her family members, all sound asleep in their cozy rooms. All except her. It wasn’t the excitement of Christmas, the anticipation of gifts, the soar muscles from skiing that day that kept her up that night. Nor was it the fight she had had with her parents just a few hours before.
It was the moon. The full round moon floating in a blue gloomy sky. It shone into the panoramic windows that overlooked the dark silhouettes of the Rocky mountains towering all around the stately house like guards protecting their kingdom. It was one of the only things that made her feel safe. Nights like this. She had always imagined herself wandering up into the mountains and never coming back.
She propped herself up onto the couch to take a better look outside. And just then, white glimmering specks began to fall from the sky. And the moon… the moon. It was like the moon had a life, a spirit, a voice of it’s own staring down with its soft glowing crater face.
She heard a soft voice saying “come outside… follow me… come outside…” The voice didn’t scare her. It was the opposite. It soothed her.
At that moment it was like she was in a trance. She had to listen. Her snow boots and coat were at the back door. No one heard her leave. Once outside, the snow glimmered and sparkled like nothing she’d ever seen. She was convinced that something about that night was magic. Like the snowflakes themselves were alive, she imagined they were fairies, beckoning her to walk farther into the picturesque landscape. She walked to the second field on the large estate, boots crunching as she tread on the freshly fallen specks.
Never taking her eyes off of the moon, and entranced by its blue glow, she finally laid herself down in a mound of fresh powder in the vast open terrain. She could no longer see the house anymore nor did she care. Just a memory that vanished into the darkness. She could feel the drips of flakes on her face, her eyelashes, her ears. Down it dripped and disappeared. She felt like she was disappearing too, melting into the icy ground. And she finally fell asleep there with her towering mountain guards, and snowflake fairies kissing her cheeks and the moon ever watchful...
